Conrad Hilton

Conrad Nicholson Hilton (December 25, 1887 – January 3, 1979) was an American hotelier and founder of the Hilton Hotels chain.
Hilton grew up with seven siblings: Felice A. Hilton, Eva C. Hilton, Carl H. Hilton, Julian Hilton, Rosemary J. Hilton, August H. Hilton, and Helen A. Hilton.
He had thought he was a Frog in a pond but in reality he was a tadpole in the ocean
Conrad Hilton developed his entrepreneurial skills working at his father's general store.
His first hotel he purchased was a 40-room hotel named the mobley in Texas in 1919
He went on to buy hotels throughout Texas. The first high rise hotel he built was the Dallas Hilton, which opened in 1925. This was followed by the Abilene Hilton in 1927, Waco Hilton in 1928, and El Paso Hilton in 1930. He built his first hotel outside of Texas in 1939 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
During the Great Depression Hilton was nearly forced into bankruptcy and lost several of his hotels. He was retained as manager, however, and eventually bought them back.
In 1925, Hilton married Mary Adelaide Barron. They had three children: Conrad Nicholson "Nicky" Hilton, Jr., William Barron Hilton, and Eric Michael Hilton, before divorcing in 1934.
In 1942, Hilton married actress Zsa Zsa Gabor. They had one child: Constance Francesca Hilton, before divorcing in 1946.
In 1976, Hilton married Mary Frances Kelly. Their marriage lasted until his death in 1979.

Comrad Hilton's slogan was: minimax, minimum price for maximum service.

A) Bernie Marcus and Arthur Blank where the proud creators of Home Depot
B) The Strengths of home depot are that they have owners that strive to help out the customers and keep them happy with the products. They also have good Advertising where they have slogans like "More Saving. More Doing" and also " You can do it. We can help"

Bernie - Service/ Cheerleader
Arthur - Competitive/Org.
Ken - Finance
Pat - Marketing ( Sell )

C) Home Depot was a successful business because they were always ready to help you and teach you how to use an item. Along with friendly employees they also had lower prices than every other business in the Retail Industry. They were really good at listening to what the customer wants.
D) I can learn from how the Founders studied the customers to see where to improve and what they needed to add. Also how they trained the employees to think customer first and how they were to be them selves. You can learn that anything is possible as long as you strive to achive your goals. and not allow critics to get in your way. Listening to customers reviews can save or make a business
The Home Depot operates 2,193 big-box format stores across the map
Home Depot was founded by Bernie Marcus and Arthur Blank in 1978
The first ever Home Depot was opened in Metro, Atlanta.
The workers at Home Depot were always ready to help and were well educated with every product, The workers were also trained to be them selves.
"To create a company that would keep alive the values that were important to us. Values like respect among all people, excellent customer service and giving back to communities and society." this quote showed how Arthur Blank was thinking what they needed to do to hit the top of the charts.
Robert Nardelli was appointed chairman in 2000
as of 2007 Frank Blake has taken over as chairman and CEO.

The Apprentice 2

I think the first team was well prepared and delivered there purpose well but didn't have the same edge as the 2nd group. The second group brought in the actual singers they were featuring for the bids. In the end the Net worth team won the challenge.
  1. How do you Negotiate: When you are going to negotiate make sure you are going in with something that you are pretty sure that they will say no to just to get an understanding of where they are at and how far they are willing to go.

  2. Delegation: To be a successful business group you should never put friends on the job when you know someone is better than them.

Apprentice

When you are giving out directions make sure they are clear.
Don't market something you aren't trained to do. Coupons work.
The street smart team won because there theme was based on the safari and they went out and had flyer's out giving discounts to everyone that brought the flyer's. Where as the the University graduates had a theme where they were dressed up like clowns, which in my opinon isn't that smart seeing as alot of kids don't like clowns. They also had no Promotional advertising.
Audrey was fired. The firing oof Audrey was the right thing to do, she was manager for a reason and that was to manage and run the business but she failed. In addition to her not following through when they were at the table she blamed everybody but herself for the lose.

Master Moves

Oswaldo is asking 300K for 30% of his company
I personally would not invest in this, the fact he was asking way to much for such a simply made product and for the price he was asking you only got back 30% of the company. As a buyer i wouldn't pay to buy this product seeing as if you think about it you could probably make it yourself and there are way better products out there.

Uro Club

Uro Club he was offering 51% for 25,000
He accepted the deal of 25,000 for 70%
In my own way of thinking about this i would not lay a penny down for this it just seems weird carrying around urine in a club, you always have to dispose of it and clean it thoroughly, It just seems more rational to go in the bushes or find a washroom.

Pork Barrel Spice Rub

Reasons the shark tanks didnt want in
Too big of a market
He saw them as part time owners not full time
the whole BBQ sauce idea has alot of compition and not easy to get your product well known. positives are that if it does get known BBQ sauce sells like a charm. In my opinion i would have gave them 50,000 for 50 percent of there profit just cause if i had the money they do that pocket change and if it gets big you get quite the profit.

Randy Pausch (Time Management)

Best way to teach something is to make them think they are learning something else. ”Head Fake”. Loyalty is a 2-way street. Brick walls let us show who really wants to achieve there goals, and who isn’t that dedicated. Raise the bar to get the best out of your students. Always treat others with care. Always have a Fun attitude. "Experience is what you get when you dont want it". Don't be Arrogant. Arrogance can limit you on conquering your goals
•Do not give up striving for your dreams: Even if you do not achieve them, there is still a lot that you can gain out of trying.
•Do not give up when you fail to get what you want: You have gained experience in the process instead.
•Do not give up when you face obstacles in your path. The obstacles are there for a reason: Not to keep you out but rather, let you prove how much you want something.
•Do not feel offended or discouraged when other people point out your mistakes and shortcomings. They do so because they care and want to help you become better. When no one points out to you that you have done a bad job, it just means that all of them have already given up on you.
•Do not complain and whine: Doing so does not you to solve the problem. Instead, work harder. That will be more helpful to you in the long run.
